Data Recovery From Unrecognized Hard Drive

This morning, I connected one of my external USB hard drives to my PC, but problem: the hard drive is not recognized. When I plug it in, it does not appear in My Computer , it is not recognized in the disk manager, no window is displayed, in short: my Data Recovery is no longer accessible.

Fortunately, this does not mean that the Data Recovery on it is ruined; it may simply be a problem with the partition tables or boot sector. This is a small data space on each disk that tells Windows how the disk is organized. If this sector is damaged, Windows can no longer read the disc. But the data may still be present.

Start by updating your computer’s drivers. Indeed, having up-to-date drivers makes it easier for Windows to communicate with all the components of your PC. Use the Tou Les Drivers site , which is very easy to use.

Make sure you have another drive plugged into your PC (other than the one you want to recover files from). A rule of thumb is to always Twitter recover files from somewhere other than the damaged hard drive.

Download the Test Disk utility and extract the files from the archive (no installation required). Launch the executable test disk win.exe to start the software.
